Training Opportunities for Volunteers

Minnesota Literacy Council training opportunities are available to all tutoring volunteers. 

 

  1. ABCs of Reading
  • ABCs of Reading is a three-hour, hands-on workshop that will equip you with lots of practical and fun tools to use when helping K-3rd grade children learn to read.
    • Friday, January 25, 2019 – 9 a.m. – 12 noon
    • Tuesday, February 19, 2019 – 6 – 9 p.m.
    • Friday, March 22, 2019 – 9 a.m. – 12 noon
    • Monday, April 15, 2019 – 6 – 9 p.m.
  1. Homework Helper
  • Grades 4-12 are a critical time for our kids. With Homework Helper, in just 2 ½ hours, you can help them finish homework, learn vocabulary, understand texts and improve writing!
    • Tuesday, February 13, 2019 – 6 – 8:30 p.m.
  1. Online Workshops
  • Now you can attend a literacy council workshop anytime with digital versions of Tutoring Basics and Foundations of Intercultural Development! To get started, visit online.themlc.org to create an account and then contact Julia at jmaiuri@mnliteracy.org to get enrolled into a course.
