The Betty Jane Reed Award recognizes outstanding contributions by a volunteer in support of academic achievement of students in Minneapolis Public Schools. For the past 23 years, outstanding volunteers have been recognized in our district with this great honor. We invite you to nominate an exceptional volunteer or group of volunteers who have made significant contributions to your school, your students, and your program. Award recipient(s) and nominees will be recognized at the Volunteer Recognition Luncheon. A school is encouraged to nominate more than one volunteer for the Betty Jane Reed Award.
In our final year of offering this distinctive Award, we would like to specially commemorate the work that BJ Reed has done for the Minneapolis Public Schools. This final BJ Reed Award recipient will join past recipients who will be invited to celebrate the great work of each volunteer.
Criteria for the Award include, but are not limited to:
In honor of Betty Jane Reed, this year Volunteer MPS is offering a special monetary gift to the 2013 recipient’s nominator. The nominator will be able to use this gift for classroom use to further support volunteers in his or her school. This gift is to show our gratitude for the time and resources it takes to have a volunteer in the school. Nominators can be from any MPS staff and often include volunteer and parent liaisons, teachers, aids, and administration.
