Volunteer MPS

Volunteers play an important role in Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS).  Each year, approximately 8,000 volunteers- including college students, family members, business people and community members- share their time and talents with MPS.  Volunteers bring fresh perspectives, enthusiasm, and support as they assist teachers, staff, and students.

With 70+ schools throughout the city, there are thousands of opportunities to get involved and make a difference.

STEPS FOR BECOMING A VOLUNTEER

1. Complete an online application- there are different forms for Community Member Volunteers and Parent/Guardian Volunteers

2. Some volunteer positions require you to complete a criminal background check. You will be notified if this is required.  Please allow 2 weeks for the background check process to be completed.

4.  Read MPS Volunteer Expectations and complete an orientation to your volunteer position.  If you know your volunteer placement, check with your school contact about orientation.  If you do not have a volunteer placement, orientation will be scheduled once we find the right volunteer fit for you.
